 Watson served as ALDE Party’s President from 2011 till 2015, and as leader of the ALDE Group between 2004 and 2009. He is married to an Italian woman and holds Italian citizenship; if elected, he could follow Sandro Gozi in being the second Renew Europe MEP to be elected in a country different to that of their origin.
